Featuring: EnerChi • a survival story
maRia's newest shadow play, created as a 2010 COLA Performing Artists' grantee, explores the on-going demands placed on cancer patients from first symptoms through batteries of tests, to diagnosis, treatments and surgery; and if you’re very lucky, life after cancer. Live musical accompaniment provided by Cliff DeArment this Arrive early enough to enjoy our Festival Day offerings and then settle down in front of the shadow screen before 8:30PM. Bring a blanket and enjoy the night under the stars with maRia's new shadow play!

Doublas Seymore will present his fast paced variety marionette show designed to captivate audiences of all ages. They will be treated to the likes of lovable characters such as: Jellybean the Clown, Scare Crow and Cowardly Lion (from the Wizard of Oz), a balloon blowing Teddy Bear, Pinocchio, a juggling rabbit, Fantasia - the ostrich, Elderwood the Sheep dog, a ballerina swan, Heather - the roller skating hippo, and a magical clown with some big surprises!!! Douglas Seymore, Master Puppeteer celebrates over 30 years of puppetry. A true artist, he designs, handcrafts, choreographs and performs each dazzling show. Credits include: performances throughout Southern California and beyond, as well as TV specials, movies and commercials such as: McDonalds, Burger King, Ringling Brothers Barnum Baily, MGM Grand ( Las Vegas,) "Men in Black," "Man in the Moon" and "Murder, She Wrote" to name a few. |

Mitch the Ventriloquist presents his critically acclaimed ventriloquism / comedy act with assistance from both inanimate and animate objects which he has performed throughout the Western Hemisphere, as well as on national TV in the USA. Mitch is an award-winning, oft-published and produced playwright. (Pen name provided upon request.) In addition to his 25-plus years of professional performance experience, Mitchell has completed an MFA in Playwriting from Brooklyn College, graduate work in Performance Studies at Tisch School of the Arts, NYU, and a PhD in English & Creative Writing from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Mitch has been commissioned to creat a new work: "Mimetic Faculty: A Ventriloquial Conspiracy," at Highways in Santa Monica on 9/30 and 10/1/2011 - Don't miss it! |

Get in the spirit with our Three Pre-Festival Puppet Making Workshops WHEN: Sundays May 15th, 22nd 29th from 1:00 to 3:00 PM - for specific workshops see below!
The Living Aquarium - May 15th and 29th An "aquatic" puppet-making and performance workshop for ages 5 and up. Participants will make one of three types of puppets: rod puppets, hand puppets or marionettes in the forms of crabs, fish or seahorses. All materials are provided.
Making Shadow Characters - May 22nd Join Maria Bodmann for this two (2) hour workshop.
