A child of the 60s and an original Woodstock girl,
Maria Bodmann is the Mistress of Ceremonies and shadow artist of Alice in the Shadows.
Creating all the screen action and voices, Maria is a multidisciplinarian
skilled in art, music, and storytelling.

From designing and carving character figures to making the audience wail,
Maria is the heart and soul of Alice in the Shadows. A protégé of traditional master shadow artists in Bali, Maria brings to Lewis Carroll's tales a sense of ritual adventure. A modern day Shawoman, Maria can be seen making ceremonial offerings of flowers, fruit, and incense before and after every presentation. The shadow screen is a window to the world of the spirit, a powerful place where anything in the mind's eye is possible.
